This video shows an incredible snake robot created by the Bio-Robotics Lab of Carnegie Mellon University that can climb a tree on its own. Although this highly-articulated snake robot was designed specifically for climbing a particular tree trunk diameter, researchers are hoping to develop a more versatile tree-climbing snake robot someday that can climb and 'navigate' any tree.
