The
keypad of a touch-tone telephone has 12 keys arranged in 4 rows and
3 columns, wherein each key represents a number or character used
for making telephone calls. Each of these keys is encoded
using two tones of different frequencies. Table 1 below shows
the two frequencies used for encoding each of the keys in a
touch-telephone keypad.
